Card Access Control Systems: When Are They A Good Idea?

Card Access Control Systems: When Are They A Good Idea?

Card Access ControlLast week, we talked about high security keys and locks. We mentioned that they have a few advantages over card access control systems: namely, that they’re cheaper and not dependent on electricity. But card access control systems have their benefits, too–really, it’s a matter of deciding which benefits are right for your business. So, let’s look over the unique benefits that card access control systems have to offer.

One of the benefits of card access control systems is convenient control. Because you can quickly set and change different access levels, it’s easy to control who can go where. If you have certain areas where all employees are allowed, but other, more high-security areas where only certain employees can go, a card access control system is the simplest way to deal with that; it’s more convenient than changing keys or locks.

Another huge benefit is the ability to track who goes where. If something does happen to go missing, for example, you can see who accessed that area and when. This can be incredibly useful to diagnose and solve problems quickly.

High security keys and locks can be likewise configured to define access, but they don’t allow for precise tracking, timed access and  instant changes.  If you’re looking for a quickly flexible security option, then card access is best.

Like high security keys though, there is still the added security of changes being made by a third party – us.  Because Advanced Lock and Security can securely host the access control data and software to make any changes remotely, your card access control systems can be sourced and revised offsite, from our secure servers.

Either way, the best way to think about your security is to think of us.
